A Nation of Hate

What ever happened to civility? It used to be praised and rewarded in our society. Being nice to people and standing up for the downtrodden should be considered admirable behavior.

Instead, it has become fashionable to be a bigot, plain and simple.  Our religious institutions have always preached bigotry in one form or another.  But it was considered unsavory to bring up in public.  Today it is all over the news, spewed by those in the highest offices.  And the rabble respond with glee to the most egregious lies and exaggerations.

An alarming number of Americans have been brainwashed into thinking the news media are against them.

Social media has fueled this surge - algorithms feed your bigotry with false reports and misinformation at an alarming rate, while filtering out anything that is true or non-inflammatory.  Bigots simply tune in and are spoon-fed ignorance over and over and over.  They curse the main-stream media, one of the pillars of democracy and freedom.  When they turn off the real news, that allows the brainwashing to be complete and unfettered.

Once a person has been brainwashed, it is very difficult to bring them back to reality.  I fear it is not possible for a lot of people I used to call friends, but now can't bear to be in their midst.  Ignorance is painful to watch for the woke.
